My role is an assurance associate. I work on a range of different clients for 2 weeks to 6 weeks. We assess the financial statements produced by the client and perform testing on this to provide assurance to third parties to increase the value and credibility of what is reported.
As it is my third placement with the firm I have built upon existing skills and knowledge. I have however taken on a lot of additional responsibility this year and developed skills such as coaching.
I enjoy my programme and the development I have seen in myself and my abilities, however I do believe that the pressure and workload placed on someone of our age is large and can be overwhelming at times.
I think the training could be improved. I think it should be done at PwC rather than at university. The support provided by career coaches this placement has been amazing.
There is a lot of support out there within the firm - even though it is a big company it feels like a close knit community.
Due to how small our course is the teaching is very hands on and support is always available when we need it.
The qualification does not only have examinations it involves group work and assessed presentations - which are skills that can be transferred when on placement.
There are always events going on whether company wide or within the groups at the firm. Emails are constantly being sent out to get everyone involved
Yes
PwC are a great employer and provide lots of support and development opportunities.
Be sure that it is what you want to do. Make sure at the interviews you show that you can perform well in a team scenario and that you are flexible when challenges arise.
