I was working as an Auditor which involved working with clients and auditing their financial statements and working papers ensuring they were correct and using tests to ensure the amounts were correct. I had to ask the client questions to gain an understanding of the company or entity to help with the report.
I have developed confidence when speaking to clients and have learnt skills to use the auditing software as well as excel. I Have improved my accounting skills and learnt many new terms whilst putting these into use whilst speaking to clients. I developed organisational skills while learning to fit in all the different tasks into my day
I enjoyed working within the teams and going to different client sits to understand their company. I enjoyed learning new skills with technology as well as learning how and why to audit categories such as cash or Receivables. I enjoyed living in a different city and exploring that during my free time.
I believe the programe to be quite well organised to make sure each person has work to do, however resourcing I believe to be very poor as There were people who were sent away on different jobs which was not in their best interest especially when other people from other offices could have took that role
We received lots of support from the employer, first of all the teams we worked with knew we were new so were very understanding if I didn't understand, we were allocated a career coach who we could go to with any issues and have regular meetings with as well as a buddy
Whilst learning content for my qualifications PwC were not very involved however when training a lot of the knowledge we learnt was supported during the placement with managers explaining why and how things are done. PwC works with ICAEW who provide the content as well as textbooks to help our study
I feel that the qualification gave us basic information which when applied to real life really helped me understand why we do certain things. It gave me an understanding so when I was speaking to the clients I knew what I was asking for and the reasons why I needed this information
Yes, we receive many emails about the extra activities that we could get involved in and everyone was very friendly when talking about these however I did not take part. There were events at least once a month at the office such as drinks or board games available to everyone at PwC.
Yes
Very friendly employer, with a great experience to travel to different places whilst working on clients, PwC were very supportive and most good at explaining things. PwC provide many different activities to help with your social life aswell. However I personally thought it was very hard work with some long hours.
Have A very good understanding of audit and accounting before joining this role, otherwise it will be very overwhelming. Whenever you are unsure speak up and ask advice as the PwC staff are always happy to help and explain if needs be they are a very good team to work with.
