My role is to open and close the cafes efficiently as well as providing excellent customer service. I work in a team to make sure The cafe runs as well as possible. Daily tasks include taking payments, making coffees, filling shelves, putting out stock and cleaning. A fast moving cafe means that there is always things to improve in order to increase sales.
I’ve learnt how to teach my colleagues to provide excellent customer service by taking part is experience training. I’ve also learnt how to cash up the vending machines and do a weekly stock takes for them. I have learnt how to do weekly stock takes within the cafe and the main restaurant.
I would say that in the early stages of my apprenticeship that I’ve found it very enjoyable. I’ve enjoyed learning about the different job roles in my industry and also the different jobs this apprenticeship could lead me into. The sessions with the training have helped to extend my knowledge and self study helps me expand as well.
At the start it hasn’t been very well organised as i had a change of trainer after the first meeting for them realising that it would be easier for someone already visiting the site to come. Apart from that it’s been well organised I’ve known when my meetings are and what I had to do in my own time.
I don’t get as much support as I would like from my employer, they encouraged me to take part in the course and now if feels like we are taking valuable time up when we have meetings. I would like for them to ask how we’re getting on and set us tasks to help with the apprenticeship.
I revive an adequate amount of support from my trainer. I’m very confident in what I’m doing and so don’t often have questions or problems but I know that I’d I did have any issues my trainer is only and email or phone call away. As I also see my trainer every month I know that if I need to discuss something with them I can.
I feel that this qualification will help to build my knowledge within my job and help me perform better during my role. I can already see things that I have learnt effecting my job and changing the way I think about things when I do certain tasks during my job.
The only extra curricular activity I’ve taken part In is the experience customer service training course which meant I spent two days in London learning how to teach customer service sessions to my team. Apart from this course nothing else is available for us to do, which is a shame.
Yes
I would recommend Elior to a friend because they do look after their staff and there are a number of schemes to get involved in that benefits you. They’ve also seen that I have potential within my job role and pushed me to do further training like this apprenticeship.
Make sure you’re ready to work within a diverse team and be accepting of everyone. The tasks aren’t always easy and working within a large team can be challenging but the positives outweigh the negatives. Make sure you are ready for the job role and decide wether you want to progress within that job role.
