  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I am the chef manger of a kitchen in a care home. I am responsible for cooking and over seeing the production off all food and drink requirements for 61 residents. Managing the health and safety and food safety. All HACCP work. Responsible for all the orders and stock control and welfare of the team

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I have learnt about the business values, customer profiles, different management styles and how and when the best place to use them. Food and beverage and types of menu and when and were is best to use them. Learnt all the different legislation how to apply it. The way of research

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • Yes I enjoyed it my trainer Colin was and is amazing a good trainer not only has he taught me lots he has also given me the skills and sign post to be able to research more and more. I have also put this into practice into my workplace to create a better workplace and team

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • Very well organised and structured the right work load at all times and regular guidance to ensure work load is complete on time and I wasn’t falling behind. Each module nicely went on from the other building apon your knowledge and experience and tasks. The mixture of online one to one and research was a nice mix

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I had a lot of support from my employer. I was able to complete the work within in work time using work equipment and facilities and stationary. I was able to have the time during my working day to meet with my trainer. My boss was available to speak to over the work and she has often offered support and guidance

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • Again I recurved a lot of support from colon my trainer. We had lots of one to one sessions which happened at my place of work. Regular communication through the course and plenty of guidance and hand outs when we met. Also he was available on the phone and via email through the course

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • It has given me the tools and knowledge to be able to do my job better. It has enabled me to learn about a lot of topics which I have applied to both the office as bd kitchen based Tasks and been able to improve the kitchen team and production

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • No there is no extra curricular activities where I work as we are outside contract Carter’s there is only a small amount of staff at site. The company had good communication with us but there is nothing extra or outside of work we can do. I have tried to arrange nights out to thank the team but hadn’t got a good following yet

  • 9a. Would you recommend Elior to a friend?
  • Yes


  • 9b. Why?
  • Elior is a good company to work for it has a great benefit scheme. It is a well lead company which looks after their staff. The company had a amazing safety and well being policy and mangers are approaching at all times. The communication we have sent to site enable me to keep all the team informed


  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Elior?
  • Go for it. If you want to Elior will have opportunity and training for you. What I like about Elior is the training scheme which is called invest in me. A lot of positions in the company is filled by internal workers. You feel part of a global family with Elior
