Within AstraZeneca, there are many internal systems which allow employees to work everyday. As a Service Improvement Analyst, I analyse the data from these services and work with the service improvement teams to make improvements based on the data results to improve the systems for the better of the employees.
I have learnt how to deliver an effective and engaging presentation which I deliver to my wider team of 340 people every month. I have also learn gain a certification in a virtual agent (chatbot) needed for my everyday job. I have also done ITIL systems and Agile training.
I really enjoy the programme! University is great and is really applicable to work. My team are amazing, very supportive of me being on the apprenticeship programme and are always open to assisting me when needed, whether this is for uni or work. They push me to be the best I can!
The apprenticeship at AstraZeneca is structured well. My induction was well organised and made me feel welcome into the company. Every apprentice has at least 2 mentors, one older/ former apprentice and someone else in the company. The support system is amazing, there is always someone willing to help!
The general attitude towards supporting apprentices is amazing! Line managers are very supporting and appreciate that we have uni, and off the job related tasks, along side of work and give us plenty of time to do everything we wish to achieve. Mentors are a fantastic feature too
Manchester Met uni provide us with a skills coach. She comes to AstraZeneca every few months for our uni reviews. She is extremely supportive and really does go out of her way to ensure the welfare of us. Lectures really go the extra mile too, demonstrated now all lectures are online due to covid19
After selecting my university pathway at the end of second year, I feel my role is the best match for my degree. Because AstraZeneca offer a rotational apprenticeship, you can make your role match your degree pathway as much or as little as you chose. what i am learning at uni directly links to what im doing at work.
There are endless extra curricular activities to get involved in: charity fundraising for teenage cancer trust, football, Gym classes at the onsite gym, running clubs, seasonal related activities, for example at Christmas there was an initiative for collecting Christmas trees after Christmas to raise money for charity.

The apprenticeship at AstraZeneca has allowed me to blossom as a person. I am gaining both academic and personal skills which I never thought I would have had. My confidence has grown and I really do believe I am part of a company who are saving lives!
Be yourself in both your application and if you get invited to an interview. Do your background research on the company before coming to an assessment centre! Try to include others if they are feeling nervous or shy, it's important to include everyone. Ask any questions you have to the older apprentices involved in the assessment centres.
