My role involves carrying out IT audit work, I ultimately am in charge of my own workload. I report to my audit manager and assist or coach consultants who are a lower grade than me and will often work in a team. Most of my day is responding to emails or IMs and completing tasks or assignments.
Yes, I have both learnt new skills and developed existing skills. I have learnt many technical skills across multiple applications and have developed a breadth of knowledge about IT in general, especially infrastructure. I have also learnt a lot about economics and finance. Skills that have improved are communication, teamwork and leadership.
I enjoy it a lot. I feel quite lucky to be at EY and do plan on staying with them for the forseeable future. The environment at EY is quite pleasant and accepting and even though it can be stressful at times due to high workloads during busy season, your colleagues are usually supportive of you.
It is well structured, we have a team that organises our study leave, exams and materials for us. We are also supported by our counselors whenever we experience any issues. Work is somewhat flexible.
My counselor and the partner of my team have both been incredibly supportive when I have hit obstacles or issues. I generally feel management want to see me grow and develop.
My training provider is Kaplan, they could be better at being more flexible and present in terms of support, their support hours are very small and mainly consist of online chat windows.
An ACA is not that relevant for IT audit, while it helps us with the financial aspect of IT audit, I feel the CISO qualification might be more relevant to our work - to be fair, I think we also have the option to take this later on
Yes, we have many social activities after work hours and plenty of professional networking opportunities. I believe we also have an EY football team (not sure about other sports). The activities are quite varied and enjoyable.
Yes
The culture here is great, employees generally feel supported and you feel you can flag issues if needed. There are plenty of social opportunities should you feel you need it and progression is clearly set out for you, should you want to apply yourself.
Be well prepared for your interviews and assessment days. Be sure to rehearse all outcomes that may occur.
