cooking for 50 or so residents 3 meal a day serving lunch cleaning managing staff health and safety due diligence temperature logging over time and sickness doing orders for food interacting with other kitchen and care staff reporting to m area manager checking any emails doing stock takes and site returns
yes I have a greater appreciation and understanding about the business side of the operation as before i was thinking only about my site where as I should be thinking as the whole group and entire company in the big picture, I have also enjoyed the days away to London to do the master classes
yes I do enjoy the program as it gets me to think more than I would have been normally about other things and also good to meet other people on the course as we can share stories and ideas throughout the experience of the course and all that it involves
the programme is well organised and structured I have frequent contact with my assessor mainly through email telling what I need to do for the next visit how far along I am on the course as a whole and any tips here and there to speed things up that he may have
as my employer elior have been very good in getting cover for me to attend any sessions that have been scheduled on my days where I am supposed to be working my area manager often asks about the course and how I am finding it and how it is all progressing
the training provider is very supportive as they want to help me succeed and better myself, when I first started the course he asked me what I wanted to do in 10 years I was not sure but he said with this qualification I could go on to much bigger things and out of the kitchen
the qualification helps me preform better in my chosen job role as I can understand more of what is going on around me as apposed to just cooking and that's about it I can think about other things that are going on and the master classes have helped me think of other things to add to the menu
no not really there are not any extra curricular activities to get involved with at Inglewood nursing home, sometimes they hold meetings here and I am able to meet the owners of the Canford group of which Inglewood is a part off, there is also training days that allow myself to meet others doing the same job in another canford home
Yes
elior have been a good employer I have had all the support I have needed with my area manager and operations manager, they have sent me on some very interesting courses especially the TMF or texteured modified food learning the correct ways to puree food and present it to still resemble it
the tips I would give to any one applying for a job with elior is go for it they are a great company and if you want to can easily go up and be promoted as they have many sites all over the country in many different parts of the catering sphere
