3 months training with QA where you gain a very good understanding of what it is to be a software developer and learn many highly relevant software development related skills. For me I was then deployed in Gloucester where I was quickly set up with everything I needed to work on client projects.
Yes, during the training period I gained a qualification in HTML5, plus gained hands on experience with SQL, MongoDB, Java, JavaScript (inc. React, Express and Node), Spring, AWS, GCP, Automated Testing, DevOps, CI Pipeline and CD Pipelines. Upon starting with BAE most of these skills are being utilized and I am continuing to learn every day on the job.
The job and training have both been very enjoyable, QA will make the training fun as well as informative including socials on Fridays. A lot of the my colleagues at BAE went through the same training course that I did and were more than happy to help get me set up and integrated into the company.
As much or as little as you ask for! I have a point of contact for everything, meaning that if I have to request any permissions, hardware or general advice I know exactly who I need to talk to. Furthermore, each new employee through this apprentice will be appointed a career manager who will help you progress to where you want to be and aid you through your career here.
Yes
The skills you gain through this apprenticeship are absolutely worth the time and pay during training/employment is more than sufficient. Everyone is very friendly and no one is unwilling to help you settle in. There are endless opportunities with BAE and each of these will not only help during your time at BAE but also improve job prospects post apprenticeship.
