I work in a systems team on a project within space, defence and intelligence. My day to day role consists of implementing new supporting features to aid developers in creating the final product.
Yes, I feel like I have learnt a huge amount since joining the company.
I enjoy working at CGI very much however I cannot say the same for the university. The course lacks relevance to the job and the university seems to be under equip and unsure of what is actually needed for the programme. Can't fault CGI though!
As previously stated the course lacks relevance to the job meaning that at times I feel like I am wasting time when I could be spending it working. I do not feel the company is benefiting from partnering with the University of Winchester.
Support is always available, we are assigned mentors and buddies to ensure that we get the most out of the program.
Support is offered however considering the working time and the fact that the university is an hours drive from work it is very difficult to stay in touch face to face.
I do not feel in any way shape or form that the course has affected my performance at work. I am learning a lot through work and this has helped me perform better.
CGI has a really good Sports and Social Club where you can organise events and the company will subsidise it heavily. This has a monthly pay in of £5 which delivers incredible value.
Yes
I would recommend CGI to a friend because they offer brilliant opportunities to get a foothold into the industry. They are also a very supportive and ethical company.
Make sure you research the company and make sure it's right for you. They are very caring towards members to as long as you're passionate about the subject, you'll do just fine.
