I am a networks transformation project manager. On a day to day basis I liaise with our third party engineering supplier to plan deployments, update plans, manage risks and do reporting. I also meet various client stakeholders from different departments within the client business to inform them about upcoming deployments and help them plan for this.
I have completed prince 2 practioner and agile pracitioner and ITIL foundation. I have also learned all about networks transformation, IT service management, Telephony and telecommunications and software delivery. I have become more confident, improved my presentation skils, learned how to work with clients and manage third party suppliers and learned how to manage teams and projects.
I enjoy my programme and working at CGI a lot. My team is extremely supportive of me and my apprenticeship. CGIs culture is very supportive of those who want to learn and develop themselves so there are lots of opportunities to do this. My work is interesting and I have had lots a varied experiences.
My programme is very well structured. I have a uni mentor and a work mentor who both support me on a regular basis. Additionally my univeristy has a whole team of people who run our programme and support the apprentices who are a part of it. The insure that we get everything we need and know what we should be doing.
I receive a high level of quality support from my employer. I have a day to day manager who i work with on my project and a people manager who also supports me. Additionally i have a mentor who i speak to on a weekly basis about work and university.
My training provider gives me a high level of support in working towards my qualifications. I have a university mentor who visits me at work once a semester. Additionally i can contact my lecturers and course leader whenever i want, they are always happy to help and quick to reply.
My qualification is extremely relevant to my role. In the earlier stages it helped me to build up a foundation of IT skills and now it is helping me to build up more specialist knowledge which is helping me to advance in my role and helped me to gain a promotion.
I have volunteered as part of CGIs CSR programme at a STEM day at a local primary school, I worked with the kids on STEM activities and it was lots of fun. Additionally i have represented CGI at a number of careers fairs. I am also an active member of CGIs sport and social club and attend many of the fun events they run.
Yes
CGI has supported me throughout 3 apprenticeships and i have grown from the most junior of roles to being a Prince2 certified project manager. I have had access to a wide range of industry leading training courses and have the support of the most wonderful team of colleagues I could hope for.
Be prepared in advance for the types of questions that will be asked, have scenarios prepared to talk about for each of the skills that have been asked for in the job description. Also don't be afraid to apply even if you don't have formal IT qualifications, other STEM qualifications and a willingness to learn is enough!
