On Scheme you do 4 6 month placements in Marketing, Supply chain, Sales and CCSD (category development). Currently I am in marketing and am assistant brand manager for Gourmet. So day to day this involves putting together adverts and campaigns for socail media and reviewing brand performance.
Since joining the company the main areas in which I have improved is my verbal communication and presenting skills due to online and day courses. However they provide you with a full insights profile to help you be aware of your communication style.
I am throughly enjoying my scheme and definetly believe that for me it was the right choice to do this over traditional university. As I am still getting theorectical learning that will lead to a degree but also so many practical skills i wouldn't of got at university.
The structure of the roles that you will do while on scheme is dependant on the business's needs so therefore there isn't a define structure when joining but a lot of support and guidance if you need to be very organised.
I couldn't of asked for a better team to start my scheme with everyone was so supportive and approachable so I never felt like I always had to go to my line manager with a problem I could go to anyone and this was amazing.
Due to the fact we only attend university on block release for 7 one week periods a year it isn't as much support as your employer. However the module leaders always quickly respond to your emails and do whatever they can without seeing you regularly.
The theorectical learning you get while at university gets you to understand and respect the bigger picture of what happens within the business and that helps you to perform better than having a narrow mindset and only understanding your role in the company.
With a company the size of Nestle there are always various events and activities going on that you can get involved in and you build good relationships with the other apprentices for more informal social gatherings.
Yes
My whole experience with the company has been great, what really makes the company is the great people that work for the company and they chose to work for the company due to the amazing culture that Nestle has.
Try to relax as much as possible and be your true self, if you try to perform in interviews to a script you have already written they won't be able to see your character and that's really important at Nestle.
