My job role involves- 1) Administration and organisation of client policy documentation. 2) Finiding client buyer grades on underwriting systems. 3) Assisitng colleagues with day-to-day tasks. 4) Communicating with potential clients. 5) Organisation of company and client forums. 6) Completing and reviewing my apprenticeship programme material as part of my job role.
I have developed and improved the following skillsets- 1) Active listening skills. 2) Punctuality. 3) Self presentation skills. 4) Work presentation skills. 5) Organisation skillsets. 6) Self-Delegation skillsets. 7) Self-critique skillsets. 8) Digital safety/E-safety skillsets. 9) S.M.A.R.T objective skills. 10) Self-Development skillsets. 11) The skill of staying calm in critical/difficult working situations.
If I was to give my enjoyment of this programme (Apprenticeship programme being provided by Knowledgepool.) a rating out of ten. One being that, I don't enjoy the programme at all and ten being, that I highly enjoy this programme and would recommend it to others, I would give the programme a rating of four. The reasons for this are- 1) Poor/unorganised delivery of apprenticeship material. 2) Lack of/no support in times of difficulty. 3) Overcomplicated work systems. 4) No clear apprenticeship stucture.
To put it simply. The programme that I am part of (The apprenticeship being run by Knowledgepool). Is very unorganised. The reasons for this are listed below- 1) The instructions that I am given after requesting help for tasks on the programme are very vague and not clear. 2) We have been told that the systems that we are using for the programme are going to be changed half way through us doing it. And have been informed that we may lose the work that we have partially completed if it is not done by a deadline. (We need feedback and approval on the work that we have been doing for us to meet these deadlines, and have not been given any feedback or approval, for the best part of two and a half months.) 3) We sometimes have been told to do tasks in a certain way (via email communication). Then, when it comes to us having face-to-face reviews we are told that we have done the work incorrectly despite checking this beforehand. This is highly frustrating. 4) We have been told that we are having a new Talent Coach. We have not had any communication with her yet. And, it has been at least three weeks since we were told about the changing of our talent coach. (Who can we actually turn to for support with the apprenticeship???). 5) We only receive one face-to-face support session a month and one support session over the phone per month. This is not enough.
Knowledgepool are supposed to be providing me support for the programme/apprenticeship. (They provide a minimal amount of support.) My employer (Aon) sufficiently supports me by allowing me to complete my apprenticeship work whenever I need to. My employer also takes the time to understand if I am having any difficulties and helps me to overcome them.
We only receive one face-to-face support session a month and one support session over the phone per month (With Knowledgepool). This is not enough. (They provide a minimal amount of support.) Also, The instructions that I am given after requesting help for tasks on the programme are very vague and not clear. I did ask for a clear apprenticeship structure at the start of the programme (Explanation of systems and the things that we were required to do for the apprenticeship). But I was not provided with anything.
The apprenticeship/programme has helped me improve the following skillsets- 1) Active listening skills. 2) Punctuality. 3) Self presentation skills. 4) Work presentation skills. 5) Organisation skillsets. 6) Self-Delegation skillsets. 7) Self-critique skillsets. 8) Digital safety/E-safety skillsets. 9) S.M.A.R.T objective skills. 10) Self-Development skillsets. 11) The skill of staying calm in critical/difficult working situations. Summary- I can perform better in my role if I continue to improve and develop the skillsets mentioned above.
At my work there are the following things which I can attend- 1) Additional training sessions. 2) After work sports sessions. 3) Aon networking and training conferences. 4) Underwriter training sessions. 5) Insurance conventions (B.I.B.A convention). 6) Underwriter drink evenings. (Gives you an oppurtunity to meet other people from the industry that you work in).
Yes
I would definitely recommend Aon to a friend because it is an inclusive workplace that offers many things such as- 1) A supportive work environment. 2) Employee benefits. 3) Career development opportunities. 4) A place to meet new people. 5) A place to develop your professional skillsets. 6) Stability and a routine.
The best tips I could give are- 1) Be enthusiastic. 2) Be polite. 3) Present yourself in a professional manner. 4) Stay organised. 5) Be proactive. 6) Look for self-development oppurtunities. 7) Set targets and objectives for yourself. 8) Stay focused. 9) Take the time to actively listen to anyone that is givng you feedback/critique.
