  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • I work in Marketing. On a normal working day I tend to manage social media platforms, these include LinkedIn, Facebook and Twitter. I also manage Google Analytics for my organisation, though this is new for me. I am also using Mailchimp to create email marketing templates and learning to use the CRM.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes I have learnt lots of new skills with my new apprenticeship. I have learnt to build on my soft skills, such as communication and leadership. I have also learnt how to manage my time better and have control over my priorities whilst working to strict deadlines. I also have a better understanding of how to interact with others in the office.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I have thoroughly enjoyed my apprenticeship. It has taught me many soft and hard skills. I love that I can implement my learning from the degree into the work at do back at my organisation. Recently, I have been working on Google analytics and many of the techniques I have used in University have helped guide me in making a plan to implement into the workplace.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme is organised. We have a set timetable which has not changed much since we got given it on the first day. The rooms are well labelled and the lectures start promptly. We have a strict layout every day with lunch sometimes being 30 minutes or 1 hour long.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I receive lots of support from my employers. They are very good at listening to my requests and supporting me in many ways. My employers understand the apprenticeship and give me sufficient time to reflect on my university work and spend time on my assignments so I can get the best possible grade.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • I receive lots of support from Manchester Metropolitan University. They are very friendly and will listen to my requests, if I have any. They have an exceptional factors team who are very prompt and can deal with any issues immediately. I can always speak to my lecturers if I am stuck on a project and they will help.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • I love how the apprenticeship is integrated because it means I can use my knowledge from university into my job role. It also means I have more confidence in the workplace as I can back my findings with relevant frameworks and theories that I have learnt from university. I would really recommend an apprenticeship.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • I do not get involved in any extra curricular activities. This is mainly due to the fact that I am a part time student at the university and my two days of coming in are filled with working and studying. I did play with the guide dogs when they were first introduced to university but have not joined a club.

  • 9a. Would you recommend Aspire Development to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Overall, the training provider and my organisation have been fantastic. They have worked with me throughout a few problems I have had in terms of settling an Exceptional Factors form and have been very nice to give me time to work on my University assignments.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Aspire Development?
  • I do not have many tips. The one thing I would say is to make sure you do your research before applying to any apprenticeship and/or organisation to make sure you are well suited to each other. Make sure you have a list of reasons you would benefit from an apprenticeship and the benefits you can offer to the organisation.
