My current placement within audit is extremely varied, not only in terms of my work but also in terms of the amount of different clients I have had the opportunity to work on. As an apprentice, a lot of my work involves testing within different areas of the audit.
My communication skills have definitely improved. Throughout every day you will be required to communicate and work within your team, as well as communicating with the client on a daily basis, even within the first couple months of joining. My problem solving skills have also improved significantly.
I've thoroughly enjoyed my programme so far. The variety of audit work, studying for exams, apprentice events (i.e. forums) makes it more exciting. Longer hours are sometimes required during busy season, however the opportunity you are given at KPMG definitely makes up for that!
The programme is well structured as before joining I was very clear on how I would be progressing within my apprenticeship in terms of my professional qualifications, as well as my progression as an audit assistant within the firm.
The employer is extremely supportive. Anything I was worried about that I queried with my PM was addressed straight away. Upon joining, you are given a range of contacts that you can reach out to, including a 'buddy', who is another apprentice of the year above you.
Again, the support received from BPP is excellent. Whilst studying for your exams, they will provide you with a huge range of learning/revision materials, and the tutors are always extremely open and available to help should you have any queries.
Even within my first month I noticed I was using and applying content that I had learned within my AAT Level 3 qualification.
Social activities are arranged a lot so I would say the social life at KPMG is great. Professional networking opportunities are abundant, and it is very easy to meet people to expand your network. As for sports teams, I feel like there is a limited opportunity to get involved.

The culture at the firm is amazing. It is a huge company that will provide you with great opportunities within your career, both long-term and short-term. The work is challenging and if you are on the KPMG 360 programme you will find a business area that you enjoy!
The application process is very long and rigorous, made up of multiple stages. I think the best advice I could give is to take your time in preparing for each stage, do your research on the company and your role, and do your best to stand out.
