My varies depending on what team I am working on. Since my time at the firm I have worked on more than 4 teams and learned something new from each experience. My daily tasks usually include testing certain documents against a predefined brief.
I have further developed my communication skills by working with a variety of new people across the firm including clients. A new skill I have learned is being able to use internal IT systems to complete my audit work.
I have enjoyed working on some teams more than others. I think it depends on what type of people you get paired up to work with. Some can be more friendly than others.
I think the programme could be better organised at times. We have a group chat with other apprentices so that is usually where we ask each other questions if we have a problem.
We have access to support if we need It for exams or work. Just make sure you reach out to someone if you need help. Sometimes it is hard to work out who the right person to contact is, but if you just reach out to your manager they can help you out.
Our Qualification coordinator is very accessible to contact. She always replies as soon as possible and gives good advice. If you have any problems with exams she can either sort it out for you or direct to to the right person to contact.
The content I have learned does come across in the work I complete which is good. This helps me complete my work without having to search something up, but if I do forget something I have learned I can always ask a team mate on the job to remind of a concept I have learned through my studies but have forgotten.
The most common activity I hear about is going to drinks. This is really popular with most teams after a long day at work. There are also department socials that occur very often where you can network with other apprentices and managers. I have heard about other activities such as a reading club and rugby.
Yes
I would recommend this firm to other apprentices because it gives you a good insight into the accounting industry. You can work with a variety of clients from small firms or large ones. This does help give you exposure to the different type of work that is carried out.
Try to get into contact with a few different people who already work at the firm so you can learn some information on what it is like to work here. Maybe try to do work experience as well so you can see if you want to go into this field of work.
