  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • During this apprenticeship we have rotations, ranging from audit, tax, consulting, IRM and deal advisory. I am currently in audit, my placement in audit is public sector. I get sent to different client sites and help assist with the audit.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • Yes, my knowledge within audit has improved, I feel more confident now when talking to different clients, and getting important information from them.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I do enjoy it, however I think the apprentice leadership team is lacking with support. I have struggled with the transition from school to a working environment and \I really don't think I have had that much support. A few people have already left the programme at KPMG as I think they also found that they were lacking the support they needed.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • It is good to an extent, they do put things on for the apprentices for example the forums that we have every 3 months. However lots of things that are planned sometimes do get cancelled which can be annoying. The rotations have also not really gone to plan as I am in a reginal office and it is a lot harder to get into consulting or deal advisory which I would of been really keen to do. Pensions has also left KPMG so I can only really rotate between audit and tax.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I have received some support but not that much. I did have to take time off work as I was really struggling with my mental health, since returning I haven't had anyone check up on me and ask how I am getting back into the routine, but I guess there are so many people they cant keep monitoring one person.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • BPP are good yes, however I find learning on my own is how I learn better and not through classroom teaching. They are supportive as they have lots of different things to help you with your learning, from practise papers, and walkthroughs of the topics.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • yes it does I do see some aspects which relate to some of the work I have done of client site, however I have only studied my level 3 so far so I imagine when I get to level4 it will help me perform better.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • Yes there is a running club on a Monday, they often do socials with your teams which are really nice.

    10/10

  • 9a. Would you recommend KPMG to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • It will help you get your foot in the door, you also make lots of new connections which is fantastic.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to KPMG?
  • make sure its 100% something you want to do. You have to be good at being able to travel alone to places far away ect.
