My role in all, is to keep on track with orders, cost reports, other issues that may occur and help out with any other tasks that pop up.
I have learnt a lot in Leeds College of Building. I have recently completed my level 3 in construction. I have learnt how to use surveying equipment, what laws are involved in the construction idustry and how to protect the environment.
I enjoy my course a lot. I love that I am exposed to a site environment and can do my studies alongside work commitments. All staff are a pleasure to work with and if there are any issues they are more than happy to help and assist where needed.
The structure is good, I know when I am going to college and back to site. Slight issues with accommodation. But, overall, I feel that the programme is structured effectively to ensure I get the most out of the experience and education that is offered.
I receive a lot of support and guidance in both the college and placement setting. There are always people to talk to if I am struggling with work or college assignments.
I receive a lot of guidance and tutoring from the Leeds College of Building. They help me along each stage of the programme to ensure I pass and succeed. Plus, they ensure that I have all the right equipment to be able to achieve.
I feel that the qualifications and the training go hand in hand to ensure I fulfill my role. Also, to understand what is expected and what the next steps are to fully become a QS. The qualifications set me up to get to the same position as a graduate.
There are many opportunities to get involved in extra activities. Such as young BAM and mentoring schemes. They are many more that are widely available and accessible through BAM networks.
Yes
The support I have received which has helped my confidence to grow has been amazing and I would recommend BAM to friends and family that would appreciate this incredible apprenticeship and join the BAM family.
Be yourself! Have a set goal on what you want to achieve and research into the role that you want to apply for so that you are prepared for all situations. An added extra is - Dress smart :)
