I am a personal banker at Santander and I help customers on a day to day basis to open accounts, credit cards, loans, savings and investments. I also help them with mortgages and insurance too. I love helping customers achieve their goals and teach them about avoiding scams and online banking.
I keep learning new skills everyday, for example I learned that listening closely and doing everything with passion can really help a customer and change their financial wellbeing. I also learned that confidence goes a long way so I always approach any task believing in myself and mostly I succeed.
I have to say - I love my Apprenticeship! I met so many intelligent people, we exchange information, brain storm, anything! Everyone are there to learn and try to support each other which I find amazing. I particularly enjoy the classes where we expand our communication skills as this is a top priority regardless of your field of work.
I am happy with the way it is structured, you get a timetable from day 1 so you are clear on any important dates. This also allows you time to plan and prepare and also to keep in mind when you want to book holidays. I think there is nothing else that can be done with regards to structure.
Everyone at my workplace have been very supportive! From my manager to every single colleague, they are proud I am learning and becoming more knowledgeable and try to assist me with any tasks. There is nothing else I can ask for! I have the best teachers and the best colleagues that support me!
I am learning and becoming more knowledgeable and they try to assist me with any tasks. There is nothing else I can ask for! I have the best teachers and the best colleagues that support me! The only thing I would say needs improving is the communication from the functional skills team, as I have not heard anything from them.
The more knowledgeable I am, the better I am at doing my job. As mentioned previously, it is not just a job, it is about connecting to other people and allowing them to share with you in order to receive different options on how to achieve their goals(financial and not just that)
There are plenty activities, and I have to say I am now a lot more active with regards to these. We have charity bakes, educational hours, climbing mountains for charity all sorts of lovely things to stay active and to raise means and awareness. I love all of them and can't wait for more.
Yes
Because Santander is really a great working environment. It helps me grow as a person not just as a worker and I am proud to be a part of Santander. I have been with the company for about 3 years now and the work life balance is so very good.
Please dont just think of it as a job! You have to care for others in order to succeed! You will find it is not just about the bank making money it is more about helping people get what they want from life by being there for them. If you apply, please remember passion is everything and knowledge is power.
