I have two main roles in my job which I rotate every few months. The first is creating analytics tools that analyses our client's financial data which is used by audit teams to help form their opinion on the the validity of the financial data. The second is using these tools as part of the audit team, I have exposure to both to try an adopt analytics growth within audit.
I have learnt a lot of skills during my time at EY as I had no previous professional qualifications other than my A-Levels. I would say that I have learnt technical skills on how to analyse data better with the use of technology as well as people skills such as how to get ask the right questions, so that you can get a better answer and understanding of the problem you are trying to tackle.
I enjoy many aspects of my programme, from learning on the job from others to gaining a qualification on a subject that interest me. I enjoy having time off for my studies and being independent as this allows me to learn in a way that suits me. I also enjoy the people I work with.
My course is new to EY and there has been flaws to it but this has allowed me explore various different routes that I can take and I feel well supported EY in my decisions. The Qualification side to it has equally had its flaws due to lack of structure but I feel I am still learning well and making the most out of my opportunity.
I would say I receive a good amount of support from my employer as I have a good mentor and the teams around me support what I do. There may not always be help from people if they are busy but everyone is approachable to ask questions to resolve problems so you're never left in the dark.
I receive a good amount of support from my training provider and I am supplied with a 'skills coach' who advises me on my upcoming modules / various essays I need to hand in and general queries with the course. They are accessible by email and respond quickly with useful information that helps me
I feel some aspects of my qualification are not aligned to my job role but they are useful skills to have in looking at the bigger picture as they allow me to explore routes that previously I wouldn't have been able to explore. Some modules in my qualification are useful in my job role also.
There are many networks / groups and activities to get involved in at EY, there are social events with the team that are great for getting together and seeing colleagues that you may not always see as they are working on different projects. Overall the options are great for extra curricular
Yes
I would recommend EY because it is a large company with a lot of various roles that can be explored based on your own interests. EY provide good qualifications that I can use throughout my career. I enjoy the teams that I work in and like the flexibility of my role.
I would recommend looking out for any careers fairs at local universities / colleges and speaking to the EY Recruiters for the opportunities available across the company as well as EY Staff who attend these events to help those with specific questions about the job role they are in. Look online for the different roles and apply for roles that interest you.
