Trainee Quality Practitioner. I carry out a series of activities to help ensure our deliverables to the client are to their requirement and on time. Tasks include, studying procedures, formulating check sheets, carrying out audits, agreeing actions for improvements and pushing them, report writing, monitoring KPI's, populating noticeboards etc.
Definitely, I am being put through a CQI qualification which has subsequently developed my knowledge on different aspects of quality especially ISO 9001 and other relative standards.
I do thoroughly enjoy my job/programme and the grateful for the training I am receiving. My colleagues which surround me are also very helpful and take interest in my development which is also a positive.
Recognition is given when recognition is due. I do appreciate however that even though in certain tasks/meetings where I may not be fully knowledgeable on what's going on, my lead still makes an effort to involve me, by stopping what he's saying to explain things etc. Things like that make me feel valued rather than a burden.
The structure for the programme is okay. It has recently changed with some improvements such as bringing forward auditor training. This is something which should always have been in the first year anyway as many of the tasks carried out in first year are mostly audit related.
We have recently just transitioned from one college to the other therefore we are fairly new with our new training provider and thus is too early to comment. From the outlook, he looks to be very helpful as he has agreed to come in to our office on a monthly basis for informal tutorials.
As previously mentioned, my surrounding colleagues are provide a lot of support with my training and development and seem to take great interest in it.
The salary I receive is considerably good however in Aberdeen, it does not go very far due to the ridiculous living costs. Rent rates in Aberdeen are exceptionally higher than most other places in the country and also because I am not from here, I need to pay travel costs to travel home to see family etc.
There are the occasional social events and sporting activities however I don't really take much involvement in them.
Yes
It's a massive company with a massive reputation and a great asset to any CV.
If relocation is a necessity for the role, then I would start looking for accommodation as early as the assessment day even if its not certain whether the job is yours, and look for accommodation central the offices as transport and infrastructure in Aberdeen is not great either.
