I manage the counter ensuring that the counter is adequately staffed throughout the day to ensure great customer service. I also serve on the counter myself doing transactions for customers and having conversations about products and services available to them. I also ensure that the front of house is managed correctly and customers are shown other ways they can transact.
Technological skills have been enhanced and I know more functions of work/ excell / Microsoft programmes in general. My confidence has also greatly improved and I am more confident in speaking in front of strangers and crowds now. As a result of this I spoke at the new apprentice recruitment this summer which is something I wouldn’t have done before
The programme was enjoyable and I really enjoyed meeting new people and the tasks. I believe that this has given me greater opportunities and also resulted in me taking part in a film as a result of the programme! I’ve kept in touch with many of my fellow apprentices which has broadened my connections within Santander
The programme was new to our cohort and as a whole was structured. The only part that possibly needed more communication was at the end of the course when we entered EPA, there was a period then when we didn’t know much and it was a little quiet. Apart from this it ran well
I did receive support from the employer, however working full time and getting 20% off whilst in a very large branch is difficult. Due to staffing illness annual leave etc it was often difficult to plan in and take time off timetable to do the course as it would have meant the branch couldn’t run.
I received support from the coach throughout the course having regular reviews with him on a Monthly Basis. This allowed me to make sure I was staying on track and doing the work correctly. The exam was largely just reading and book based, we were provided with the material and had to read this to prepare for the exam.
The course helped me progress my career and as a result I moved to customer service manager on secondment. The confidence the course gave me allowed me to showcase myself in an interview to get the job. Also the things I learnt about policies and procedures enabled me to do my job better
No unfortunately there are no extra activities that we can take part in. We try to go on nights out and meals as and when we can but with such a large team this is difficult sometimes! Within work we have groups of friends that try to so social events and quizzes
Yes
Supportive through career and job stability. Although times are changing banks will always be needed so there will always be an element of being able to keep your job. They also offer good discounts and benefits as well as a pension and opportunities to buy and sell holidays which is good
Keep open minded, it’s an ever changing industry and there is always going to be change and closures occurring. However keep open minded about other roles and channels outside of branch and you can always look to progress onto these areas. It might also be you start in one role and it isn’t as expected but you can move within the company easy
