My role is an maintenance engineering apprentice. My day to day jobs include preventative and reactive maintenance on production lines. This includes mechanical, electrical and automation tasks.
I have learnt many skills including mechanical maintenance techniques, electrical maintenance, design and implementation. I have also learnt how to program PLC’s and understand how to construct logical code.
I have a natural curiosity of how things work so the job role has coupled well with my interests.
The structure of the role includes periodic rotations in different areas of the factory for example, canning, PET and manufacturing. In addition to this, you are to shadow a specialist within that area. This works well dependent on the mentor.
There is lots of support from my employer you simply have to just ask. If you want to spend more time in a particular my employer is always more than happy to support such requests.
The support from my training provider has been good where I have requested it. However, the supplied teaching/instruction has been sufficient.
The qualification ensures we are provided with the correct learning to be competent in the role we are training for. In this case, I feel the qualification helps me perform to the best of my ability in my role.
I have been involved in Britvics Thursday night football in the past however, this was postponed due to covid for the time being. We have also attended networking events including automation events.
