The main focus of my role on a nightshift is to keep the building safe and secure along with the guests who are staying, and to be there to help should any of the guests have any issues during the night. Other roles during my working week include the breakfast shifts, either front of house or in the kitchen.
The most improved skill I have developed during my time in this role is confidence, dealing with people and any problems that arise. I have also continued to improve my organisation and time keeping skills aswell as improving my overall service skills towards every guest who stays in the hotel.
I enjoy the programme in terms of its simplicity of completing online modules and then a face to face review every so often. However would prefer to complete the course in a shorter period rather than a year. Also would prefer to have one consistent trainer rather than passed between two or three.
The structure is simple and well organised. The website is easy to navigate and work is easy to complete. The modules are all set out for you to follow and work through. Only issue I have found is on many occasion when attempting to access certain parts of the course I get continuous error messages.
I have always recieved fantastic support since day one. I couldn't be happier with coming to work and completing my role. Any help or question asked has always been answered and help granted. Its nice to work for a proper company for once that cares about its employees all the time.
Again, I recieve 100% support from my trainer. Any queries or questions are always answered promptly. And during a face to face meeting, my trainer is more than approachable and easy to talk to. They explain things clearly and make everything easy to understand. Any changes are always communicated promptly.
As I have previous experience in hospitality, I find it more of a reminder of how to perform and offer service at an optimum level. However it does help to provide skills to better deal with what could be a variety of scenarios during a shift. This also helps to build confidence.
As I work with a fantastic team who all get along well, we socialise outside the workplace. Many of our events during work are centered around raising money for Great Ormond Street Hospital which is the company's chosen charity. If possible we try to involve the public and other sites as much as possible.
Yes
It is a fantastic company that really does care about its staff. From wages, to support in and out of the workplace, to providing training and apprenticeships. You can come to work knowing that your hard work is appreciated and is often rewarded. In my personal experience I have nothing bad to say.
When filling out an application or attending an interview I would say just be confident and express yourself, show off your personality and how it makes you the right person for the role. Give good examples of your service skills from past jobs or even not in the workplace. Demonstrate your skills and show how they would be useful.
