  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • For me, this course has been about confirming the knowledge I learnt throughout university. For me personally, it was about giving myself some extra curricular learning which can help offset my work life balance but further, the information I learnt during university can now be reconfirmed with real life working experiences which I didn’t have.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • The program really helps with taking my mind off the pressures of work. Further, it means I am able to understand on a greater basis the theories and information I am learning. I can relate these theories but also assess myself on which particular learning style, management style etc and how I can manipulate myself to adapt to new learning environments and situations

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • The programme has been organised fantastically well and we are always one text, email or phone call away from having contact with our apprenticeship helper which allows for the swift resolution of any problems or misunderstanding. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of undertaking an apprenticeship for whichever reason, personal to them.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • Whitbread are incredibly supportive of the development of their internal team members. This means we are constantly looking to develop team members so that we can promote and praise within the company. People who share our values and coming goals who are looking to further their educations experience for the good of themselves.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • My trainer has been fantastic as she was originally part of the Whitbread learning and development team. This means as she has held positions within the company she can understand the working issues that may affect a learner on a day to day basis, this makes the trainer a fantastic person to open up to, learn and develop with.

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • As mentioned prior people will use this apprenticeship for different things. Ultimately, for me, I have used it to reconfirmed the information learnt when I was younger through education but use these new theories and management styles to relate to real life business situations that potentially when I was younger, I didn’t have the experience to understand.

  • 8. Are there extra-curricular activities to get involved in at your work? (For example, any social activities, sports teams, or even professional networking events.)
  • There are plenty of opportunities for extra curricular activities to help develop yourself from a leisure point of viewed for myself, this isn’t something that I feel is beneficial to me. This is because with work and family commitments, it is difficult to commitment to leisure activities and my own personal development

  • 9a. Would you recommend Whitbread to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 9b. Why?
  • Ultimately, these programmes are not easy. This requires a commitment to learning and developing yourself for the good of your own future. These things are expensive to run and the fact people are willing to put their time and effort into helping you progress, requires the same commitment from the learner.

  • 10. What tips or advice would you give to others applying to Whitbread?
