Since I had no experience at the beginning, I got put on a testing team and helped my team write, and execute test scripts.
I have learnt the process behind testing and deploying apps. I have also learnt how different teams work together to get a project done.
At the start, the testing was quite boring and repetitive, since I had no experience and could only do the simplest of tasks. However, as my University studies progressed and I got more workplace experience, I was able to perform many more tasks. It was a valuable learning experience.
The University modules got quite mixed up at the start, due to different lecturers joining and administration problems. This lead to our learning being delayed. However, there is quite a lot of online content to use and the teachers are happy to help.
I have not needed much support so far since I am in my first year, but they always say that they are available should anything come up.
While there were some administration problems, so far the teachers have been very understanding in terms of extra resources/time needed when you have to deal with life issues.
for the first few months, my university learning had nothing to do with my workplace role. However, as the course progressed, I could apply some of the content to my role in testing. Once I move to the dev team, I will apply more content hopefully.
None.
Yes
The company is very supportive so far and treats it's members well. I have also learnt that our annual salary is quite good compared to what we were told to expect from an apprenticeship at school, and other companies.
Make sure that you emphasise how eager you are to learn; they place a lot of value in people willing to undergo training in order to improve themselves.
