Keeping the production line going. Fixing breakdowns and doing preventitive maintenance. One day per week doing college work.
I am learning and gaining skill all the time which is the good thing about working at BMW. One issue is some departments are not very well organised meaning not much learning.
It can being enjoyable but needs improving.
Year one needs to be better organised and more relavent to the work that is carried out in the factory. The paint shop is very badly run and the maintenace staff don't wont to deal with the apprentices. This means they don't learn much in that rotation. Assembly on the other hand is a great place to learn and the maintenance staff are much more friendly. BIW is ok but needs improving. With the Btec it really depends on the quality of the teaching, sometimes it's good, sometimes it's poor.
I have not really needed to support but some apprentice have dropped out because they did not get the support they required.
The support give for the NVQ is very good, the Btec suppot was not as good but I did manage to complete the course.
Not sure it does.
Very little activities to get involved in.
Yes
BMW offer a good salary and holidays. The career path is also good for those who put in the work.
Ask a lot of questions. Be good and follow the rules. There are things that I was not told in my interview, like shiftwork, working nights and weekends. I didn't find out about these shift until after I started and was told that if I don't like it I shouldn't work in maintenance. I wasn't even told it's compulsory until year 2.
