I am a software developer at CGI, I work on developing software on our product and service we provide to our clients. I also help around being the it support in my office. My role requires me to work with a range of different teams and colleagues. I generally just code.
I have learnt different programming languages such as C#, Java, SQL, VBScript and many more. I am also currently working on enhancing my c# coding skills as that is what is mainly used in our project. working on a legacy project, has allowed me to learn the old ways of coding and how the new ones differ.
I have really enjoyed my programme as I've been on it for nearly 4 years now! 2 years on the level 4 and then now 2 years on the degree programme. Its been a good ride, where I've learnt a lot of skills and gained so much knowledge.
I think the programme is well structured as it gives us the opportunity to work as well as study in a week. I currently attend uni once a week and the days are pretty long as everything is cramped into one day so sometimes we don't even have a break.
I have received all the support from my employer so far and I am happy that they give me the opportunity to work on my assignments if work is a little quite. All my collages are very supportive and help me where possible by rechecking my work and giving me pointers on improvement.
I have received good support from my training provider as they have always ensured that the assignments we get given are clear. however there were some instances where this wasn't the case but it was looked into and sorted out. The tutors are all very helpful and eager to help.
My qualification has definitely helped me perform better in my role as I am able to apply my knowledge at work and enhance it. For example, I learnt the different types of testing available and I was then able to apply those methods at work which improved my efficiency at work.
Yes, there are a lot of different extra-curricular activities to get involved in at CGI, and I try to take part in many possible. We have a badminton club weekly on a lunchtime so this is a good way to socialise with other members. We also have many volunteering opportunities such as going to a local school to do a talk. This is something I am very fond of doing and I hope I can continue to do so.

CGI has been great to be for the past 4-5 years. I am very lucky to be accepted and been given to opportunity to work in such a big company where there are many things to experience. CGI ensures that as a member you are valued and looked after and are treated as an owner.
I would just say to be yourself in the interview and be honest as that will go a long way. I would also say that you don't need to have past experience to apply, you just need to show that you have the will to learn and succeed and it will happen.
