As I am a ground floor team member, every shift is different. I am trained on reception, on the bar and also as a waitress in the restaurant. On reception I check people in, answer phone calls and emails answer any questions the guest has, also any extra needs. Morning reception is different to evening reception so there are different task I have to do. If a bed is required to be made in the evenings I make up beds. When the restaurant opens at 5pm I take orders and serve food as well as make recommendations. In the mornings during breakfast shifts I seat people and clear tables, it is buffet style so I am always topping up making sure everything is available. I am also bar trained so I serve alcohol at the bar and make hot drinks as well.
I have definitely learned a lot of new skills, IT skills for when I am on reception, We have a site called Academy online where there are different courses dedicated to our everyday job roll and in depth training and information is available to help us preform to the best of our ability. So I am constantly learning new things. My communication skills have improved a lot. I am constantly talking and interacting with all types of different people. Which has helped me to use my communication skills I already have and put them to good use. Being bilingual also helps while working at a hotel, my ability to speak fluent German has been very useful in situations. Also doing my apprenticeship has helped a lot. My mentor has taught me a lot of useful tips and I feel more confident while at work knowing I am able to do my job well.
I really enjoy my programme. I am a shy person but since doing this and gaining new skills and information I am a lot more confident. I don't get nervous now if customers ask questions I would usually know. I am able to answer them and help them out and I am really happy I am able to do that now. I have learned a lot and I know there is so much more to learn and I'm glad I am a part of this.
I think it the programme is organised quite well. I am always able to contact my mentor if i need any help or have any questions. We have regular visit and phone calls just to catch up and see how I am getting along. We try to meet every month. I also always have work set that I can be doing so I constantly learning and is never too much so I don't get bored. The training I am set is usually straight forward and easy to access so I am able to do it at home or at work. My mentor asks me questions to see if I am learning and I like that because when I do answer them correct or am able to answer the questions I feel really proud of myself.
I receive a lot of support from my employer. As my apprenticeship is on reception I get given task while at work so my employer is always happy to give me extra reception shifts so I am able to learn more. Also if I need help with any of my tasks I know that I am always able to ask for help from my managers which I am thankful for. If I have a meeting with my Mentor, the managers at work are always happy to change my shifts if I give them enough notice so that I am able to go to the meeting. So they are all very supportive.
I receive a lot of support when working towards my qualification. On MyLife there are a lot of useful programmes to help me. As well as other platforms I can use for my apprenticeship. If I do have any problems I'm not scared to ask for help because I know I will receive it.
I feel like it has helped me so much. I am a lot more confident while at work. I know how to do a lot more on the computer. Even while answering e-mails and phone calls, I know how to do it correctly. I am glad I am able to use these new skills on a day-to-day basis . There as so many skills I have been able to put into place that I have learned while starting the apprenticeship. It has helped me a lot personally as well. I know a lot more about my job role and about the Hospitality Industry.
We do have extra-curricular activities to get involved in at my work. We had a fundraiser where we were raising money for Australia when it was burning there were raffles, face painting and other fun activities. We do have social events with team members. We also have classes at work that you can attend on different topic that my manager hosts if we need and extra help with anything. I attended one on bar training and reception which was vey useful. We also do the menu tasting where the chefs cook the new dishes we will make for when our menu changes so we know what we are selling when guest ask us about a certain dish. You can also get FirstAid training and get a Bar license as well and so many other things. We have a lot of different activities available at my work.

I would recommend working at Premier Inn to a friend because it is truly an amazing place to work at. Everyday is different, you certainly would not get bored working there. They offer so many different opportunities to gain skills and knowledge. They always want their staff to be the best they can be and they are very supportive in helping you gain your full potential. I like that the job isn't the same everyday, I am trained in more than one role so I am able to do different jobs every shift and I think that is great because I am not stuck in one place every shift. The management is also very good. They so supportive and easy to get along with and I know I can trust them if I do have any problems and that's very important because you want to feel safe at work. I am proud to work for Premier Inn
When applying make sure you have a good CV, no spelling errors and make sure you show what skills you have and any relevant experience. It's also important to have a good cover letter that stands out. If you do get an interview make sure before the Interview to do research on Premier Inn because it is always good to show you know things about the company you are applying for and you have researched for the interview. Although interviews are nerve racking show your personality, show them why you should be the one they hire. Always ask for feedback on the interview. At Premier Inn if you are successful you get asked to come back for a trial shift. My advice for the trial shift is to be confident and polite, listed to what is asked of you to do and do it the best you can, show that you get on with the other employees and do ask them questions if you need help or want to know more about what it is like.
