I am a Group Operations Apprentice at UBS, within the Group Operations division I work within the Data Management Office (DMO) as a Business Analayst/ KDE Onboarding Analyst. As a business analyst, day-to-day I work to move projects forward with meeting with DMO stakeholders, analysis of data lineage and project management work to keep the annual book of work moving. I interact with my DMO colleagues (mostly external consultants of the firm) that fall within either my team of 21 analysts (the finance team) or the wider DMO (each division of the bank has a DMO team). I also interact with Key DMO Stakeholders which include members of the wider UBS bank that own Key Data used for regulatory reporting (DMO captured data lineage and controls around this data).
Arriving to UBS straight from my Sixth Form Studies meant I had a lot to learn in the banking industry. Skills learnt: Effective Communication, Presentation, Excel Skills, Time/Project Management, e-mail communications, how to lead a meeting, how to build relationships with my colleagues and Managing Studying and Working. Qualifications: Investment Operations Certificate Level 3
My programme gives me everything I need as a school leaver. I am put in the position to learn, I have the freedom to learn and I have adequate support to keep me motivated and happy to learn throughout the apprenticeship programme. I also enjoy everything that I do within the Apprenticeship.
Very well organised. We are kept up to date with timelines of future dates and from the very start are outlined with the expectations along the way of the programme. Our induction was thorough and enjoyable, this involved a week together before we went to our desks. We have 20% / 1 Day a Week studying along with bi-monthly meetings with out Skills Coach.
Plenty and wherever required. We have apprentice buddies (from previous intakes), support from buddies within our working divisions and receive plenty of help from the Learning Provider under contract from the firm. This means our apprenticeship is fully support in all aspects: Career Development; on the job learning and from exams.
Plenty of high quality support through external providers. These providers go above and beyond.
This gave me excellent product knowledge to drive forward technical analysis of lineage work.
I work with the ApprenticeNet to put on professional networking events.
