To carry out maintenance on existing pieces of plant machinery and instruments. The first two years are spent doing classroom based study at college. Learning about the power station and specific knowledge needed to do my job when I go back on site to work full time.
Yeah, learning new technical skills/knowledge and a lot of new knowledge about health and safety/ site regulations
The program is new so I think there’s been a few teething problems, but it’s improved a lot over the last year
As much support as there can be at this time because there’s a lot of uncertainty so not much can be done
They provide the majority of the teaching and reviews
It gives you a basic knowledge which you can apply to your learning when you get back on site. This should aid us when learning how to correctly perform maintenance
At college there are plenty. Haven’t worked long enough at site to know what’s available yet
Yes
The opportunity to progress Is there and a lot of people who work in the power station have come from apprenticeships. They’ve got stations based all over the country so the opportunity to move around would be possible.
If you’re apply for the same role as me then prepare for the interview and know that you’ll have to move away from home for atleast 2 years. Overwise, take advantage of everything that they offer and learn from the people working with you
