As a digital marketing apprentice, I am responsible for the management and development of 2 brand's websites within the Professional Products Division as well as the creation and design of brand assets. My day to day role includes optimising our websites to ensure they are up to date with products and launches as well as improving the overall design of the pages. I also have to communicate with our developers daily to make sure the process runs smoothly and efficiently. Additionally, I work on creating new assets for our brands including banners, still images and GIFS which are used across all marketing touch-points.

Throughout the duration of this apprenticeship, I have developed a range of new skills which have helped me to thrive in the workplace. I have built an extensive amount of knowledge within my field becoming well educated in the world of digital marketing. Attending courses and workshops helped to improve and strengthen my knowledge. As well as this, I have learnt how to effectively work in teams to achieve a goal and the importance of communication during a project. However, this apprenticeship has also provided me with the opportunity to lead on projects allowing my leadership skills to develop. Overall, this experience has taught me several new skills and enhanced the skills I already had.
I absolutely love my apprenticeship programme. It is an amazing experience to work for a global company who support me and encourage me to succeed. Although it can be challenging to balance workload, it has enabled me to achieve things I never thought I could. Help from Pearson College and L'Oreal have made this apprenticeship highly enjoyable.
As our programme is just over 2 years long, we do have to work extremely hard to fit in our university work and our L'Oreal work to ensure we complete our degree however Pearson do try to make this as easy as possible. Pearson are well organised and provide provide an extensive amount of support and guidance to help all degree apprentices. While there have been some changes along the way, Pearson have accommodated to these and ensured we have all the help we need.
Although I would say I have a lot of responsibility in my role, I believe I receive a good amount of support from L'Oreal. My HR manager and my line manager are always available if I have a question or an issue regarding work which makes encourages me to speak up and share my ideas. I also feel like L'Oreal support all of their employees through various training sessions and courses that are available on a platform called Book My Learning. I have attended many of these and can say that there is a lot of support given during these classes.
Pearson offer support to us in many ways. Our virtual learning portal is full of academic resources that help us with assignments and exams including books, journals, case studies and articles. I find these really helpful when conducting research and writing up my reports. As well as this, we have regular visits from our apprenticeship mentors who make sure we are on track to complete our course to a good standard.
Some of our modules do overlap with what I learn within my role at L'Oreal. This overlap helps me to perform better in my role as I have a deeper understanding of why it is important and how it can positively impact businesses. My degree has also taught me a lot about time management which I have taken across into my role at work. By better managing my time, I have been able to complete tasks at work more efficiently subsequently improving my overall performance.
Yes! L'Oreal offer numerous out of work activities for employees can attend. I have attended various events at different organisations including Google and Facebook which are super insightful and thought provoking. These are amazing opportunities to visit other global companies and get an insight into some of their ways of working. As well as professional events, there are lots of social activities to get involved in such as crazy golf, table tennis and other team events that bring everyone closer together.

I love my apprenticeship and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to gain valuable work experience at the leading beauty and cosmetics company. Not only do you achieve a degree at the end of the 2 and a half years but you also take away some amazing work experience and not forgetting lots of new friends. It is a great way to learn and work at the same time.
If you are applying to L'Oreal's degree apprenticeship, I would encourage you to be prepared for your assessment days! Do your research. Make sure you look up L'Oreal and Pearson to make sure you know exactly what you are applying for and can answer any questions your interviewers could ask. I would advise you to put in as much effort as you can during the group tasks and your interviews. I would say it is important to show you are a team player and can share your ideas effectively with your group as making a good first impression is always good! You have to be an extremely hardworking and determined individual to succeed on this programme as it requires a lot of effort from the offset. However if you are motivated, you will thoroughly enjoy this degree apprenticeship.
