We have different placements every six months but my current placement involves me designing and developing RPAs that automate processes within the bank. I also have to meet with the business area throughout the process to ensure the app is doing what it should do.
I have improved my communication skills as I have to lead meetings on a daily basis. I have also learnt different coding languages and developed ones I knew already. I’ve also learnt how to work as a team effectively in order to complete tasks.
I enjoy the program a lot as I’m still getting the university degree I wanted while also gaining knowledge of working life and how to apply what I’ve learnt at university to everyday work tasks.
The program is really well structured as we change placements ever six months to get a feel of all the roles that work with our degree in order for us to better understand what we want to do once we’ve finished.
Our employer has a dedicated team to helping apprentices with any issues they may have both in work and in university. This helps as we always know who to go to with any problems.
We’ve recently changed training provider to ntu who have so far been helpful with helping us getting our degree.
The programming languages we learn are languages that developers in the company which help me to quickly start working in new teams.
Santander ask us to take part in community days which involve us helping with projects in the local community such as painting schools etc. We also have different charity events we can take part in such as football and games days.
