I am in release management. On a day-to-day basis, I am required to collaborate with project managers, architects and testers to coo-ordinate on project status. We align projects through the software development cycle. My role involves management and reporting of all projects in a release, ensuring they will be ready for deployment.
Yes, the big skill I have developed is my professionalism and communication. Going from school to full-time work is a big jump and it made me significantly improve communication so that I can effectively and efficiently communicate with others to complete my role. My confidence has also increased since starting.
My program is good, but there could be more support from my line manager in terms of personal development. It feels like the apprenticeship team and line managers are not on the same page all the time. However, I have enjoyed my time so far and am thankful for the opportunity.
It is not very structured. To start with, I felt like I was thrown in at the deep end and it was on my shoulders to find my way and make my own career path. I think there should be more structure and guidance to be shown different roles in vodafone so we can decide what we want to do.
It differs from manager to manager, but my current manager is not very supportive in terms of personal development. Whilst he is very good technically he is not a great people manager. However, we receive good support from the apprenticeship team if we were to have an issue with our apprenticeship
It differs from module to module. Some module leaders are very supportive and I feel they are
Yes it does to a degree, some modules are more relevant than others but all have good insights into my day to day role.
Not really. There are the odd team activities but these are far and few between. I feel like I would like more extra-curricular activities.
Yes
It is a great start to your career. The amount of opportunity there is good, plus they pay very well!
Make sure you know why you want to join. And have a good think about what you can bring.
