The programme allows for you to experience a variety of work environments and areas of the business, and therefore allows you to gain an understanding of the type of work you enjoy and your areas of development. It also allows you to make a lot of connections throughout your time on the scheme.
There have been some changes to the programme over the past couple of years, so there have been some hiccups along the way, but I believe the changes are for the better, and that our feedback is taken into account.
There is plenty of support available on the scheme, and it has many forms. Support can come from you line manager or your day-to-day placement manager. There are also safeguarding officers assigned, and helplines that are an option 24/7. Another good thing is that there is the option for peer support, and when you first join the scheme, you are given a buddy from a previous year of the scheme who you can go to for advice.
The lecturers are fairly good at responding to emails which may contain queries, and are happy to give further information on feedback that is provided if you request it. They are accommodating and generally flexible to suit you. They are also happy to provide extra resources if you ask.
Having the theory presented to us then allows us to go and test it within a practical environment. For me, I find that having the opportunity to put the subjects into practice helps me to grasp the purpose and process.
There are networking events that run both inside and outside of the working day and there are a few sporting teams that are locally organised.
