I am tasked to carry out the creation of additional features and fixing bugs in the my Vodafone app. I will usually work with my team in handling these features and ensure the code is written to a high standard as well as ensure thorough testing has been put in place.
Yes. I first started learning more about iOS development using Swift programming language and also learning how app development works for both platforms. I have also learnt React for one code base for both Android and iOS. I have also learnt Java and Kotlin with more experienced developers from my team.
I enjoy working with my team as well as socialising within the company. There are multiple opportunities to meet other apprentices within the company who may or may not be on the same apprenticeship course as you. There plenty of company events revolving around bleeding edge technology and improving technology in disadvantaged areas
It's structured clearly. I am well communicated about what is required from me and what i need to complete in order to finish my apprenticeship successfully. I have good structure from my apprenticeship manager here at Vodafone as well as communication from my skills coach over at QA learning
My employers give me all the tools i need in order to complete the job. They also have my backing when things sometimes don't go well. For instance, and issues with our learning providers or issues within the team are easily dealt with and theres a clear structure to improving.
Our training providers give us good support with accordance to our learning and training sessions we need to attend and complete. Our skills coach who is from the learning provider will communicate with me regularly in order to ensure deadlines and work is completed on time so that i can complete my apprenticeship
My qualification does not affect my day to day performance too much. Some of the times the courses i am placed on is irrelevant to what i do in my team and that means it feels like time is just wasted. I feel with or without the training session qualification, i perform similarly.
There are numerous amounts of social activities to get involved in. There are opportunities to be involved in sporting events against other companies. There are events which will help socialise together in order to meet other people in different areas of the company. There's also a social platform so we can also share and get involved in other peoples activities.
Yes
Its a great place to work. There are amazing people that work here with a wealth of knowledge and can give you great advice to growing your career. Theres also plenty of opportunities to dip yourself into to either learn or participate in events which can help you expand your network.
I'd advise most people who interested in joining Vodafone to go in with an open mind, since the company is so diverse with many different backgrounds and cultures. Sometimes, i've met people who were too close minded with their work and that ended up tarnishing their relationship with co-workers.
