I work in Vodafone TV, in the integration and development team. At the moment I have been given a project to great a Tool that can adjust metadata files. My colleagues every couple of weeks will give me a requirement document for the tool for me to implement in.
I have definitely developed my python skills and also learnt a little about postman. During my job I also learnt about wire shark and how to follow traces. As well as all of this I am trying to learn a little about AWS and how Vodafone TV runs.
I have enjoyed everything about my program so far, from meeting new people, learning new skills, traveling, beginning my career and having my own responsibilities. I found it a little difficult to settle in as, Vodafone is use a big company.
I must say that from my providers side my learning support is very slow from my skills coach and I have to spend a lot of time following up for feedback. If it wasn't for him I would possibly be able to finish my programme early.
My manager is very chatty and supportive. He will contact me ever week or so checking on my workload and pushing me to do more. I have also had contact with my managers manager checking up on me and also support from our HR lady in our department.
I had a lot of support from one specific teacher who helped with my studying and exam work. Also I had support from a higher role at QA to help me get into contact with my coach when he wasn't responding, she was able to give me guidance.
Not too much, I felt like one or two course I could have went over again or done a beginner course, for example in Java. Although, when requesting more support I never received any for my coach. However apart from one specific teacher who went the extra mile for me.
Yes I try and attend as much as possible, for example volunteering at youth events like 'codeLikeAGirl'. I also attended corporate games last year and often attend Vbar at work. I like to encourage a drink after work with my teammates or other apprentices to keep connected.
Yes
Because of the supportive community and sprite everyone has and the different opportunities it offers.
Have an open mind when applying and be yourself as, Vodafone is accepting of everyone. Don't be afraid to talk about your different skills and how you can use them to contribute to the business.
