Managing and Building Networks for different products. e.g IPVPN, SISA, SDWAN. Daily i will be constructing configurations that will then be applied to different routers in the netwokr, this might be CE, PE, NNI which will in turn help in the routing process in order to make the network flow like it should
I have learnt many new skills, for one i have learned how to use command line interface in order to configure the devices which inviolves knowing a lot of different commands in order to do this. i have also improved my typing skills as the job is at my desk on a laptop
I have really enjoyed my programme at Vodafone as i have learnt a load of valuable skills that i can use in a network engineer position, i put in a team that has greatly enhanced my learning experience and overall i think it was a really good decision to start here
My apprentice ship was very well organised ans structured as it was run through learning on the job with vodafone and book learning and courses would be provided by QA here we done courses like CCNA 2 week course which helped get a grasp on the very basics of networking
my employer supports all the apprentices very well, we have a clear line of command that we know we can rely on for help and support as well as fantastic colleagues who are always willing to extend a hand and give help when ever this is necessary. overall i would describe the support as fantastic
QAare also great at providing support to young apprentices through their mentors who are assigned to every apprentice when they start with them, these mentors will visit and help with any course work that may be an issue, they are also available through email. this means that we dont have to wait for a visit to get support
i feel the qualifications we gained through QA although are good to apply to a CV, were not really good in order to help with networking and they were more admin based and security. however these qualifications were good as they allow us to flesh out our CV with them as well as experience
i havent attended any extra curricular activities and am not really aware of any of any such activities, except for a 5 a side foootball game that occurs weekly however i have no idea how you would get involved in anything like this as it has never been shown to me.
Yes
Vodaofne is a very pleasant place to work, all colleagues are friendly and willing to help and the working environment is a pleasant one making it easy to get on with your work as well as this the annual leave is very generous with 28 days off every year. which is always a bonus
I would say that they have to be willing to learn as it is a very steep learning curve and as soon as you are in the door you feel this. I had to start from the very beginning in networking which was very daunting, however you just have to persevere and be able to learn as much as possible
