In my placement I am tasked with completing monthly reports and responding to emails for certain projects. I communicate with my manager day to day working alongside them in certain work. I am responsible for running multiple reports and have completed stretch assignments. I have the opportunity to also work on STEM Ambassador activities alongside my day to day work.
My communication skills have improved with constant interaction with stakeholders and colleagues . Working on excel has developed my computer skills and allowed me to create reports with advanced features that I had no knowledge of prior to the programme . I've learnt new skills specific to Project Management and have been shown what future skills and knowledge I will need to attain.
The programme has given me an opportunity to make new friends from my cohort and also allow me to experience a working environment which I enjoy. The programme includes university which is a great experience and BAE has a lot of enrichment activities available. Overall I enjoy the programme very much and I am excited for the future.
The programme is very well structured. This is evident in the progress made by the other year's on the apprenticeship. The programme provides an excellent early careers team with a skills coach. The placement managers have your development in there best interests and insure that you can be effective in the placement role.
There is a vast amount of support ranging from academic to emotional and well being. Support is constantly suggested and advertised with many communications being sent out on how to obtain it. On Induction it is also mentioned and all support streams are explained and details are laid out. The support is very key academically for me to ensure the progress I can make on the programme.
The University team have a support system in place to ensure you have the best chance of achieving your qualification. The student support team assist with essay writing and other assignment information you may be stuck on. The lecturers encourage questions and are easily accessible via email. An personal tutor is also assigned for extra feedback on assignments and help on the course if needed.
Learning Project Management and understanding the specific theories In university allows for the application of these in the workplace. The training provided allows you to have extra knowledge and understand the processes in more detail. It also allows for opportunities in the workplace that may not have been made available without the knowledge that you've required.
The university has sports teams and a student union with a plethora of extra- curricular activities. BAE advertise certain professional networking events such as APM Events. The education outreach team and early careers communicate any extra- curricular activities available to us. Overall there are many opportunities available and they encourage you to take part in them outside of work.
