I work in the hospitality industry. In my role I assist guests getting to their room, I take bookings over the phone. I also take payments by card, cash or leisure vouchers. I bring guests what they need, this could be towels or milk or tea. I also stay at the desk for most of my shift in case guests do need my assistance.
I have learnt many more customer service skills since working in the hospitality industry and starting my apprenticeship. I have learnt the key behaviours to display when working and I can now put them into action with ease. I was able to develop my confidence more than before and I feel a lot more independent now too.
I enjoy my programme as it is very easy to understand. There are a lot of online resources to help you and you are allocated a private tutor to assist you any day of the week. I find it enjoyable as it is very straightforward and i can find what I need to access quickly.
My programme is very structured. It is broken down into a month by month process, depending on how much I am able to progress each month. This helps me to track how much I have done. There are rough time limits which allows me to keep ontop of my work.
I recieve lots of support from my employer. I always know they are on the end of the phone if i need to contact them. I can talk to them daily about my progress with the apprenticeship and ask for any help if i struggle to understand something when i am at work. They also help me to demonstrate some behaviours that i learn in my apprenticeship and assist me in putting it into action.
I recieve lots of support from my training provider when working towards my qualifications. I am able to catch up with them every couple of weeks and i am provided with a contact number and email address in case i get stuck with my learning. I am able to send a quick message and get a fast response for help.
I feel that my qualification helps me to perform better in my role as i get a new set of skills that i can use in my day to say life and in my workplace. The qualification gives me more detail on how to perform in the role and the behaviours i need to display.
There are sometimes fundraising activities for our charity great ormond street hospital but no sports activities or professional networking that i know of. I think it would be a good idea to implement this. However, there are fundraising runs that you can participate through the charity so i suppose in a way there is.
Yes
I think premier inn is a great place to stay. Working there myself i know the staff members are genuine and will do whatever they can to make sure that the guests have a great stay. The rooms are always clean and comfortable too and the air conditioning, heating and hot water always work amazing. There is always tasty food served at the restaurants attached too.
The advice i would give to people applying to premier inn is to just be yourself. Dont try and pretend to be professional or try too hard to impress. Just show your true personality and be polite. Also, just be patient. The managers are very busy and so it might get difficult to look through many cvs and decide which employees they want to join the team. So always be patient and you'll be surprised.
