  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis:
  • My day to day role as a Technical Sales apprentice is to be the front line representative of Vodafone when facing customers, supporting on sales bids, qualifying leads, and even developing business cases for bids! I also attend face to face client meetings to review their services to ensure that they are happy with them.

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills or developed existing skills?
  • I would say that I have learnt many new skills and developed my existing skills because of how hands on my experience has been, I feel that I am really allowed to contribute my work in a way that really matters! I have also become more confident with public speaking which I often do during client meetings.

  • 3. To what extent do you enjoy your programme?
  • I enjoy my programme as it gives me a kickstart into the corporate and professional world, while networking with other apprentices on other programmes which is great. I have made friends in my own programme and across the other programmes Vodafone offer. It can be quiet daunting going into the professional world fresh from 6th form so it's good to have friends who are making the same jump as you.

  • 4. How well organised/structured is your programme?
  • I would say that the structure for my programme was not the best, but I feel that this is because this was the first programme of its kind that Vodafone had offered, so I am sure that it will be a learning curve which will improve other programmes in the future.

  • 5. How much support do you receive from your employer?
  • I feel like I have always received support when I needed it and I wasn't afraid to ask for support when I needed it. Its important to make sure that you always ask for support when you need it because that is the way you learn new things, which is crucial in any job.

  • 6. How much support do you receive from your training provider when working towards your qualifications?
  • In my case, I feel like I could have received more support from my training provider because sometimes there is a lack of communication on things, like where our training sessions are taking place and etc, but on the whole, I think the support has been satisfactory but there is certainly room for improvement

  • 7. How well do you feel that your qualification (through your training provider) helps you to perform better in your role?
  • The qualification definitely compliments the role, I can apply what I learn academically to my work professionally, which makes it all feel worthwhile. I often find myself deploying new skills and tactics taken from my learning for the qualification and applying them to my day to day role, which is great.
