My role is a first year apprentice. Our first year is full time in college, on a day to day basis we are attending classes and completing assignments. This involves written and practical work.
I have learnt a lot of new skill since starting the apprenticeship. This has mainly come through completing practical work.
I am really enjoying my current programme and i am glad i made a career change to do it.
The Apprenticeship programme seems to be very well structured for the 3 years, i am looking forward to starting the placement rotations.
Have received a lot of support from my line managers and are always able to be contacted. Even at the moment with lock down we have weekly catch ups and can call/email whenever.
Have received a lot of support from my training providers. Has been more difficult with lock down as we cant go to college, but all of the assignments and resources have been made available online to complete.
It is hard to tell until i go in to a proper role but i believe it has given me a good underpinning knowledge to begin well in most roles.
There has been a good few professional networking events for us to attend. unfortunately we haven't been involved with much sport this year through work as we are at college. This will be different as a lot more is available next year in the dockyard.

From what I have experienced so far, DE&S are a great company to work for and provide you with great training for the future.
Do a bit of research on the company before applying and try and attend an apprenticeship day or job fair to meet some people that work there.
