Looking at the cyber and physical related threats that the chief security office faces and in turn the bank and finding ways to mitigate and reduce the risk associated with them. this is done by evaluating new technology and processes and enhancing existing technology and processes. We also review current and future trends and seek out and implement new security solutions as a result of them.
- Effective Stakeholder management - Improved organisational and prioritization skills - Reporting skills - Building upon technical skills such as coding in HTML, CSS etc. - Improving cyber related skills such as different attack techniques and possible mitigation. - Improved representational skills - Improved report writing skills. - Better time management and activity tracking skills. - Improved excel & visio skills
I thoroughly enjoy the programme as i find it very fascinating when involved in cyber related projects such as identifying common attack techniques and what tooling we can have in place to mitigate those. Also, it is interesting to look into various areas with in cyber security such as network security. Specifically, cloud and on premises.
The organisation & structure of the programme is made very clear from the outset and is very detailed and articulated well to us during the initial induction. It is also reinforced during monthly 121s with a careers coach to ensure we are on track and that we are doing fulfilling the objectives of the programme.
The employer is very supportive in all aspects including both professionally and supportive. I feel very comfortable in asking for support when i need it and do not feel discouraged from doing so. They are able to support me the best they can and they also direct me to relevant resources when they cannot support as much.
I feel the skills coach which is assigned to us is very supportive when engaging with them. I feel I can reach out whenever i need to and they always provide a good level of support. They come across as very helpful and genuine. I am thoroughly enjoying the course.
Personally i think what i am learning in my apprenticeship is very well aligned to my role and will help me very much in my day-to-day role. being relatively new into the programme, i am still pursing opportunities to put into practice the theory i have learnt. I have a better understanding of my job role as i am progressing through the qualification.
There a range of extra-curricular activities to get involved in at my workplace. This includes social activities, sports team and professional networking events. There are easily accessible resources to help facilitate this. There is an internal colleague intranet which provides all the information required to help me get involved in things i have an interest in.
Yes
The organisation is a place full of opportunities and working for them brings many benefits. There is the opportunity for professional development and personal satisfaction that comes as a result of being involved in projects and activities that can help make a widespread difference. It is a fun & fulfilling organisation to work for and has strong values and a warm culture.
The tips or advice i would give to others applying to this organisation is that be open minded and eager to learn and progress. Try to get involved in a wide range of activities. Do not be afraid to ask questions, no matter how silly they may seem. If you're struggling, support is available and dont be scared to ask for it.
