I work on the Application Maintenance team as part of the UK Health account. My day to day role involves maintaining the PACS and CRIS systems which we roll out to NHS Trusts around the country. This involves using UNIX and SQL, logging onto the front/back end of the system and ensuring that the system is performing as expected.
Since starting my apprenticeship, my technical skills in UNIX and SQL have advanced significantly. I had no prior experience with either before starting the apprenticeship scheme however the help provided by colleagues has allowed me to become competent in both areas.
I feel very lucky to be part of the scheme. The working environment is relatively laid back, and the company culture is very sociable. The company works to a very high standard and it's good to be a part of that.
We carry out regular performance reviews to ensure that we understand how valued we are and how we can continue to grow further. We also receive a great deal of employee benefits as part of the firm.
The scheme is very well organised. We're put forward for a lot of opportunities that other apprenticeship schemes cannot offer. The general running of the scheme is very well structured, and the company always consider our needs before making any concrete plans.
The training providers offer a lot of support and are easy to get along with. They make sure that they're clear on what they require from you and this makes it easier to work towards your monthly targets.
Accenture offer incredible amounts of support and are very flexible when it comes to managing time. All employees are aware of the channels they need to turn to should they require any additional support and this can be seen throughout the company.
In terms of an apprenticeship programme, i feel that the salary is very fair.
Accenture is a very sociable company to work for. Company events are common and there is always something going outside work hours to get involved with. Voluntary work is always recommended and every employee is granted 3 charity days per year in which they can take off work in order to work within the community.
Yes
The company really looks after it's employees, and the opportunities within the company are endless.
Ensure that you can express yourself fully, and make sure that you show an attitude which makes you an asset to the company. If asked to an assessment day, ensure that you get involved with any group tasks your asked to participate in, and try to take the initiative if possible.
