I work alongside the In Vivo Sciences team developing dose formulation using general and specialised lab techniques and equipment. My daily tasks include formulating required doses and delivering formulations to the relevant scientists. I am also responsible for checking fridge temperatures.
I have learnt how to formulate doses independently including formulations made using aseptic technique. I have learnt how to use the online system for shipping and delivering compounds. I also did an internal training course regarding Biosafety.
I particularly enjoy the work as science was my favourite subject at school. My team are friendly and very supportive and I enjoy working with them. The company culture is also really nice and AstraZeneca has bee a great place to work.
I have weekly lectures for my collage training. I also have competency sessions once a month to ensure I'm on track with my learning both theory and practical. I have one day a week to focus completely on my study. I feel my programme is well structured.
My manager, mentor and I meet up once a month to discus how I'm getting on. If something comes up before then I can easily contact them through other means. They are also supportive of my coursework ensuring that I have the time and resources to complete assignments.
I feel well supported and I enjoy my course. I speak to my tutor on a weekly basis through my lectures. They also stay a few minutes after the session for any questions. Between sessions they can easily be contacted through email or OneFile.
My course has definitely helped me learn about different systems in the workplace. I am regularly able to put the health and safety element of the theory into practice. It also helps me to gain a broader understanding of the industry.
There are a variety of extracurricular activates to partake in. This include social events, team building exercises, quizzes and lunch events.

AstraZeneca is a great place to work with a range of different job opportunities. There is also a good company culture and plenty of support.
Two of the main things they are looking for is someone who is willing to learn and someone who has a passion for science.
