Keeping the LV and HV electrical network up and running, this includes maintaining equipment and sometimes fixing faults out on the network, most of my day to day jobs are maintenances, job planning, this includes checking back feeds and loads and the condition of apparatus and then making job packs
I’ve learnt a lot about working in a team As well as being able to work independently. Problem solving is also a big part of my job when trying to figure out why something has faulted or not working properly, so this helps improve my ability to think logically and solve problems
I enjoy my apprenticeship a lot, at times it’s challenging and can have a lot of pressure on you, but I enjoy my day to day job a lot, I enjoy the team I work in and I’ve never had any problems at work when it comes to being upset
The programme has been a bit unstructured as we had to change colleges, we were the first year to make this transition and everything was new for both the college and SSE so there were some teething problems but I imagine it’ll be fine for every other year for now on
I receive a lot of support from managers, I always get calls asking how I am, how I’m getting on and If I’m having any problems, you can call a manager at anytime with a problem and they’ll always be willing to help, you also have reviews every 13 weeks where managers talk to you and help you if you have any problems
Any support that is needed will definitely be giving in my experience, most managers are willing to do anything they can to help when it comes to Trailblazer, and my team are definitely helpful as-well, they are all willing to do a little bit extra just In order to help me out
My qualification definitely helps me perform my role better, when doing work to achieve the qualifications it definitely makes you think about every little role of your job and constantly thinking about it when doing write ups definitely makes it stay with you when you’re performing the job on site
Not that I am aware of, but I do a lot outside of work to begin with so I don’t really go out my way to find out if there are,
Yes
SSE offers good benefits as well as training, the qualifications are very good and can be recognised any where giving you the opportunity to take your career where ever you want
