As a roaming engineer I am responsible for making sure that the vodafone network works correctly for people abroad, this involves talking with foreign networks and configuring the network to make sure everything works.
I have learnt some new skills, but i have also developed a lot of existing skills including my personal skills like teamwork, corporate look etc.
It is a lot of hard work and having to balance your work to your uni work is difficult sometimes but you have to find a way to get it done. Company culture is excellent, things like team coffees, breakfast, All Hands within the area you work in.
Organisation on the side of the apprenticeship provider could be improved through better communication. some more flexibility for when you can get your apprenticeship work done. Responsibility is a big thing within vodafone and as an apprentice you do get given a lot of responsibility.
All of the support that is required is available and is available quickly. You get a mentor at the start of the apprenticeship they can help you with anything and everything.
Feedback from the provider differentiates depending on the person that you get giving you feedback, so it can range from poor to very good. support from the provider is sometimes hard to come by unless requested a week or more in advance.
So far I would say that I haven't learnt a great deal that has helped me in my job role, but this could change as I get more into level 5 and level 6.
Yes there are lots of these things available, you are encouraged to take part in these things as it can help you network with other parts of the business. You can do things such as basketball, football and much more.
Yes
Everything about the company has been excellent, i have nothing to fault. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there so far look forward to what the future holds.
Be confident in what you do. Confidence is key, be a team player and express yourself, make yourself different from others in a way that won't negatively affect you.
