As I am currently in my first year I am at BMET college, acquiring the qualifications required to start working at the plant. This means taking part in numerous different lessons to acquire all the skills I need to become a maintenance engineer
I have learnt a vast amount of new skills from this apprenticeship, me probably more so than my fellow apprentices as I didn't go to an engineering based secondary school and so everything I have been doing is new to me.
I am really enjoying my program, it is a lot of hard work but it is very fun and enjoyable and all of my fellow apprentices are all extremely nice and helpful.
I would say the program is very well organised and everything runs smoothly. The only time we've ever had any problems is when there has been a run mix up at college but this is quickly resolved.
All of the apprentices are based quite far from one another and so it is difficult to receive high amounts of support, however if emailed or texted he replies quickly and he comes down to see us all and have a meeting one to one at least once a month

The qualification definitely helps me to perform my job role better giving me the knowledge and skills required to complete the tasks at hand
As I am still on the first year of the course meaning I am not actually at the plant meaning it is hard to know and take part in any extra-curricular activities.
Yes
It is really well ran, everyone you speak to is really nice and caring and will help you out if ever you require extra support. With BMW you also receive a lot of extra benefits and the course is very fun but it is equally challenging.
Have self confidence, if you believe in yourself others will believe in you. It is a challenging apprenticeship but it is also very rewarding and so it is important if you aren't always sure to seek help because it'll help you in the long term.
