Formulation of new personal care products incorporating new actives. Measurement of new products and materials.
Data analysis skills and presentation skills. Using excel has improved
I enjoy my programme because the balance of work and university is good and I don't feel like there is too much of either. All the teams I have worked in have been welcoming and friendly and I am given a lot of freedom
Work within teams is well organised however the apprenticeship scheme is less well organised. We had a good induction about the scheme to start but it felt like we were left in the deep end when starting our first placements as we didn't know who to talk to or what jobs we should be doing
There is support in terms of them being understanding if I need a smaller workload in order to manage university work but there is less support in terms of understanding your role within the placement
We get the same amount of support as all the others on our course who are at uni full time. It was a bit daunting when going straight into 2nd year because everyone knew what they were doing and things were still new to us but answers were always given to our questions.
Definitely because it helps understand technical chemistry terms that get used on a regular basis. Lab skills also help feel more confident in work
yes there is a good range of social clubs such as running, choir, band, pool. we also have a gym on site.
Yes
Because it is seen as a good place to work and having experience there is valuable on your CV. There are lots of opportunities if you know how to find them. It's a good place to work, people are friendly overall and you have quite a lot of freedom even as an apprentice.
Make sure you research the company. You need to know about its brands, the countries it sells in, and it's core values such as the USLP. Have examples of when you have met some of their values so you can demonstrate that you are the right fit for the company.
