One day a week I attend college where I am currently completing my BTEC Level 3. The other four days I go to work and have been moving around the site to different placements to get a good understanding of the company and to help improve my skills and knowledge.
In my first year I learnt new skills such drilling, tapping, filing, etc. I have then been able to develop these skills at work by putting them to practice. I have been taught how to weld by one of the technicians and I will be continuing to improve my welding abilities and knowledge.
I enjoy the apprenticeship a lot has it has a good structure to it and I am enjoying moving arounf the site learning the different areas and seeing how they help with the business.
I feel that it is organised well.
I feel that the support I receive from my employer is very good as I have had support in numerous areas such as education, practical skills, family life support, etc.
My training provider organises reoccuring meetings so we can discuss my progress, if I have any issues and also asks forany feedback which could help improve the overall experiance of the course for myself and other apprentices in the future.
After developing numerous skills from college I have been able to transfer these skills into the working enviroment. So I feel that the qualification and the subjects it entiles help me to work in my day to day life.
Due to the COVID-19 unfortuently there has not been many activities this year and during my first years as I was full time at college I couldnt get the opportunity to attend any other activities outside of work. The only activity I have managed to attend was the open day at the Plant where I helped out to give inofrmation to people who were looking at applying for the apprenticeship.
Yes
There are numerous benefits working for BMW such as company cars, good pension scheme, numerous discounts, etc. Also, you can get good qualifications such as BTEC Level 3, Foundation Degree, HNC/HND and if you have applied for the foundation Degree BMW will put you in for your top-up degree. I would recommend working for BMW to anybody.
Make sure you research the company, ensure you have a good interest for engineering and produce a project so that you can show the interviewers.
