I am an apprentice electrician, which involves assisting the electrician I'm working with, or working along side them doing the same task, depending on what needs doing. Most of our work is in commercial premises, adjusting previously Installed installations. This may be installing new circuits or changing old ones.
I have learnt a lot of new skills, before joining the company I had no idea about anything to do with electrical installation. Now I am able to complete most tasks on my own and believe I will be ready for when my apprenticeship ends to work by my self completely
As with most life experiences it has its ups and downs, but I have seen through out my programme the things which needed changing have been changed. Work is enjoyable and college offered a change of scenery
It has a developed structure which would normally be perfectly satisfactory, however with many things it has been disrupted but Covid-19.
When I have had issues with something during my apprenticeship I have been able to find support from my managers or cooridators.
I have not had an issue with this as yet so i haven't needed extra support but I do believe I would find support if needed
I learn more about tasks which I have not had the chance of doing yet. It helps to get a more rounded education in all tasks I will need to be able to complete
